No Need to Sacrifice Your Health While Traveling!

Did you know you can bring your own nutritious, farm-fresh food on a plane? It’s true! Traveling doesn’t have to mean sacrificing the way you feel or the quality of the food you eat. With a little planning and some easy prep, you can enjoy your nutrient-dense meals wherever you go!

Here’s how I do it: The week before my trip, I take the time to meal prep all of my farm-fresh meals. I pack them neatly into plastic storage containers, and then freeze everything. I always plan out exactly how many meals I’ll need for the trip, and I pack a few extra snacks that are easy to grab. When flying, I throw all my frozen meals into one big suitcase. Since it’s packed tightly together, everything stays frozen. Plus, the cold temperature in the plane’s underbelly helps keep everything fresh!

The Key to Smooth Travel: Hotels with Fridges (or Kitchens!)

One of my must-haves when traveling is a hotel with at least a fridge. But my personal favorite is to book a place with a kitchen. That way, I just thaw out my food for the week and heat it up whenever I’m hungry. Sure, it takes a little extra time and planning the week before the trip, but honestly, it’s so worth it. There’s nothing better than not having to think about what I’m going to eat or cook while on vacation – that’s what I call a TRUE vacation!

Stay Ready on the Go with a Thermos

If I’m on a trip where we’re out and about all day on excursions, I always bring my trusty thermos. I heat up my meal in the morning, pack it in my backpack, and I’ve got a nutritious, hot meal ready to go anytime, anywhere. It’s such a game-changer, especially for busy days!

Why This Hack is Worth It

Not only does this save me a ton of money (no need to buy overpriced airport food, eat out for all my meals, or worry about finding healthy options), but it also helps me stay energized and feeling my best while I’m exploring new places. The freedom to focus on the adventure instead of stressing over meals is truly priceless!

And while some people might give me a funny look when I bring a suitcase just for food, I truly believe it’s one of my best life hacks. Plus, if my diet allows for some flexibility, I still get to enjoy exploring local cuisine in moderation.

A Quick Note on International Travel

This hack works great for domestic flights within the USA, but it can be challenging, if not impossible, to bring food when traveling internationally. In those cases, I always do my research ahead of time. I find local farms, food stores, or restaurants that cater to my diet so I can enjoy fresh, healthy options abroad.

Traveling with my own farm-fresh food has made my trips stress-free and much more enjoyable. Give it a try on your next adventure, and see how easy it can be to travel without compromising feeling your best!

P.S. And don’t skip the snacks—jerky, cheese, fruits, and veggies are perfect for munching on the go!
